Description: Abducted from a land of wealth and privilege, Dae is chained to a slaver’s caravan crossing the vast Jaharri desert. It is a strange world of blistering sun, rolling dunes, and wind-carved plains, ruled by the Scion Zafirah Al’Intisar, a powerful and mysterious woman with seductive eyes of sapphire blue.
When Zafirah liberates the caravan the rescue Dae prayed for is not as it seems; Zafirah’s carnal appetite is legendary. Dae is taken into Zafirah’s harem, a decadent world of excess and sexual freedom. At first, Dae struggles with desires she has never before experienced, but as love and lust collide these two women slowly forge a bond as one learns to listen to her heart, and the other to the call of her awakening body.
Review: This story takes place in a harem, so of course there is quite a sexual atmosphere, but it is not stifling. More playful, really.
Zafirah and Dae are more or less interesting characters, but I was more interested in the other harem women, especially Inaya. Sadly there aren’t many details, although it gets better with time (the beginning reads rather like a summary than a story somehow?). But still this novel is more about telling than showing. This changes with the sex scenes which are very hot and differ from each other.
I find it strange how there is no real conflict. No jealousy, no hating between the women, every one is perfectly confident regardless what happens… it would have been way more interesting with some conflict and more realistic as well.
